Marci Powell é Diretora Global de ensino superior e treinamento corporativo na Polycom e presidente da USDLA (United States Distance Learning Association). Powell tem vasta experiência em ensino a distância e e-Learning com especialização em aplicação relacionada ao aprendizado no decorrer da vida e inovações. É especialista industrial no campo de tecnologia educacional e telecomunicações.

Como última presidente e atual executiva do Conselho de Administração da USDLA, Powell conduz uma associação focada no suporte global do programa de ensino a distância, aplicações e liderança. Em sua atuação perante a USDLA e a Polycom, supre reflexão em liderança e planejamento estratégico na aplicação da tecnologia para solucionar necessidades de educação e treinamento.

Tem mais de 17 anos de crescente liderança e gerenciamento, atuando como assessora em setores públicos e privados na América do Norte, Europa, Austrália, Nova Zelândia e Japão. Powell é uma palestrante internacionalmente conhecida.

Antes de assumir sua posição na Polycom, foi Diretora de Advocacia Educacional na AT&T, onde foi nomeada Presidente do Clube da AT&T. Lá, trabalhou com inúmeras instituições educacionais, criando programas de aprendizado a distância e integrações de sucesso de tecnologia para potencializar o aprendizado no Século XXI. Antes da AT&T, foi presidente da VibrantC, Inc. e Gerente Global de Mercado Educacional na VTEL.

Powell começou sua carreira como professora e, desde então, tem atuado como administradora de várias instituições educacionais pelo Texas. Durante seu trabalho como Coordenadora Tecnológica na Allens ISD, o distrito foi nomeado como “Lighthouse District for Technology Integration” pelo Comissário de Educação.

Ganhou o prestigiado prêmio Don Foshee Outstanding Leadership em 2002, o TxDLA Outstanding Individual Commitment to Service em 2000, e o Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) Technology Support Person of the Year em 1998. Foi mencionada no USA Today, na Distance Learning Magazine for Leaders e na TASSP Texas Study, uma publicação da Texas Association for Secondary School Principals. Powell tem sido citada em numerosas publicações, incluindo University Business, NZ Interface Magazine, Campus Technology Magazine Auckland Herald e Nikkei IT Pro, no Japão.

Atua no Conselho Consultivo Global no “The Observatory for Borderless Higher Education (OBHE)”, em que realiza uma pesquisa internacional e projetos em parceria com a UNESCO, o World Bank, o Commonwealth of Learning, a Universidade Europeia e outros. O OBHE tem 180 membros em 50 países. Powell é ainda a antiga conselheira executiva e atual membro do conselho da Communities in Schools San Antonio (CIS) e atua na comissão diretiva em educação SIGIVC da International Society for Technology (ISTE).

Marci Powell is Global Director for Higher Education and Corporate Training at Polycom and President of the United States Distance Learning Association. Powell has extensive experience in distance learning and e-learning with expertise in applications related to life long learning and innovations. She is an industry expert in the field of educational technology and telecommunications.

As Immediate Past President and current Board Chair of USDLA, Powell leads an association focused on global support of distance learning programming, applications, and leadership. In her current capacity at USDLA and Polycom, she provides thought leadership and strategic planning in the use of technology to address education and training needs.
She has more than 17 years of progressive leadership and management serving as an advisor to public and private sectors in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.  Powell is an internationally known keynote speaker.

Prior to assuming her position at Polycom, Powell was Director of Educational Advocacy for AT&T where she was named to AT&T’s President’s Club. There she worked with numerous educational institutions in creating distance learning programs and successful integration of technology to empower 21st century learning. Previous to AT&T, she was President of VibrantC, Inc. and Global Education Market Manager for VTEL.

Powell began her career as a classroom teacher and has since served as an administrator at various educational institutions across Texas. During her service as Technology Coordinator at Allen ISD, the district was named the “Lighthouse District for Technology Integration” by the Commissioner of Education.

Powell was the recipient of the prestigious Don Foshee Outstanding Leadership award in 2002, the TxDLA Outstanding Individual Commitment to Service award in 2000, and the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) Technology Support Person of the Year in1998.
